ISO 27001 is an international standard for information security. It is guidelines for cybersecurity best practices used all over the world. Identity governance and administration (IGA) plays a major part. It is quite natural that midPoint, being a leading open source IGA platform, can be an essential tool for ISO 27001 compliance.
ISO/IEC 27001 is a well-established international standard for information security, cybersecurity, and privacy. It has evolved through the decades, adapting to changes in technologies and the threat landscape. The standard was significantly updated in 2022, broadening its scope. As ISO 27001 certifications operate on a two-year cycle, the updated version of ISO 27001 is entering into its full force right at this time.
Our webinar introduced the ISO 27000 series of standards and described how midPoint and our documentation can help reach ISO 27001 compliance. An introduction to the standards was presented by Peter Pištek, an independent cybersecurity auditor and researcher. He described how the standard is structured, how certifications work, and presented the concept of the Statement of Applicability (SoA) for ISO 27001 compliance. The second part of the webinar was presented by Radovan Semančík, a Software Architect and Evolveum’s Co-Founder. This part of the presentation introduced the compliance documentation that Evolveum is compiling to help organizations with ISO 27001 compliance. The webinar included a demo of information classification as a prime example of how midPoint can help with ISO 27001 compliance.
It is very clear that identity governance and administration (IGA) is an essential part of ISO 27001 compliance. IGA platforms such as midPoint are absolutely necessary to reach efficient ISO 27001 compliance at scale. No product can be ISO 27001 compliant by itself, and no product can guarantee ISO 27001 compliance out of the box. However, we are doing our best to make your ISO 27001 compliance easier – with our compliance documentation and new and improved features planned for midPoint 4.9 and 4.10.
