IdentiBeer: Where Great Identity Minds Connect

This month, I had the pleasure of attending an IdentiBeer event — a friendly, casual meeting of identity professionals. IdentiBeer is organized in various cities around the world, and I had the opportunity to attend two of them in one week. The first one was in London, and the second one was the day after in Helsinki. Both events had identical vibes, and I’m glad that I attended them.

It was a great opportunity to meet like-minded identity professionals who are willing to share their experience and discuss both technical and non-technical topics. It felt the same as attending a technical conference, just without the presentations. Meetings like this help me stay informed about what’s new in the identity domain, and I also welcome the opportunity to share my thoughts with others and get feedback.

Some of the interesting discussions I had revolved around service accounts and non-human identities in general, including the rising topic of access management for AI agents, which will surely be important in the near future. Other discussions that I would like to highlight led me to ponder the relationship between security and identity teams. Surprisingly, the collaboration between those teams is usually not as strong as one would expect. These examples can illustrate how such events can bring interesting ideas and provoke further thinking about innovations in the field.

Of course, everyone takes away a different experience from these meetings. It’s fully up to you how you utilize the opportunity. To me, it was a very pleasing experience and I’m happy that I’ve met so many inspiring people whom I hope to see again. Last but not least, I would like to extend my gratitude to the organizers of both events, Sam Evans and Jani Perttilä, for their warm welcome.

To sum it up, I highly recommend attending IdentiBeer to anyone who can appreciate discussions with identity enthusiasts. I’m only left wishing there were similar events closer to my home. Maybe I can do something about it. What do you think? Could IdentiBeer Czech be a thing?
