MidPoint Intermediate Training Teaser Webinar Summary

MidPoint is a comprehensive, feature-rich identity management and governance platform. Since the beginning, the major task of midPoint customization has been configuring midPoint behavior. This includes the preparation of schema handling, mapping, object templates, and more. If you follow our First Steps Methodology, you can manage the configuration entirely in the GUI, but there are still some limitations. Not everything can be configured in the GUI at this time.

(First Steps deployers are perhaps wondering.)

Fortunately, MidPoint configuration is (and has always been) actually stored in the MidPoint Object Language. You can view, download, edit, and upload it to MidPoint again as files (typically XML).

(MidPoint deployment veterans are nodding.)

Regardless of whether you started with midPoint just now or years ago, sooner or later, you will need to manage your configuration as files. This is especially true if you wish to use the same configuration in multiple midPoint environments (TEST, ACC, PROD, etc.). You will want to use a Git (or similar) repository as well. But – you might wonder – the configuration created from the GUI might actually contain environment-specific data. This includes references to environment-specific connector identifiers, passwords encrypted by environment-specific keys, and so on. However, you probably don’t want to store such data in your files. Additionally, you probably want to store such configuration data in a more portable way.

(Most of you are probably nodding, remembering the hard times cleaning up the configuration before storing it in Git and using it in another environment…)

How do you manage that configuration?
How can you do it better?

Evolveum is developing new training to help transition from the “GUI-only” way of managing midPoint configuration to a “midPoint project” based on (XML) files. Once you “clean up” the configuration files properly, you can store them in Git and use them in GitOps pipelines for deployment to other midPoint environments. The training will also introduce new MidPoint 4.9 features.

Would you like to attend such training?

Would you like to attend it now?
ASAP?
Immediately?
Simply yesterday was too late?

Or would you like to know what will be in the training before deciding?

(Spoiler alert!)

We have a teaser!

During our webinar on June 20, 2024, we introduced Evolveum’s training curriculum and the intermediate training content. Additionally, we presented a live demo dedicated mostly to configuration cleanup. The training will be delivered on midPoint / midPoint Studio 4.9 to utilize their new features.
